The Monument is a sculptural table combining red marble and fused crystal glass. The design was inspired by the placement of buildings within a landscape. The rough texture of the stone, reminiscent of a landscape profile, contrasts with the block of glass rising above the surrounding relief. The visual character of the piece is guided by the shape of the stone into which the glass is integrated. An intervention occurs within the pre-existing structure, which is then adapted to accommodate the molten glass sculpture.
